# Google Ads management

> What Concord can build and change on Google Ads, and what has to be done at create time.

## Supported campaign types

| Type                                     | Status                                                 |
| ---------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Search                                   | Supported                                              |
| Demand Gen | Supported — also runs on YouTube |
| Performance Max                          | Supported — goal-based, built from asset groups        |
| App                                      | Supported — installs, engagement, and pre-registration |
| Display, Shopping, Smart, Local Services | Not supported |
| Video (YouTube reach) | Not supported — Demand Gen also runs on YouTube |

Performance Max campaigns have no ad group or ad tier: the campaign holds asset groups directly.

## App campaigns

App campaigns are built as the full tree: campaign, ad group, and app ad, with text, image, and video creatives. Pick the goal at creation, installs, engagement, or pre-registration, and Concord derives the bidding strategy Google requires for it.

Two constraints come from Google:

* App campaign targeting is **location and language only**. Everything else is Google's own optimization.
* An app ad has **no paused state**. The campaign and ad group are still created paused, which is what keeps the ads from delivering until you enable the campaign.

An engagement ad group requires a user list, and can carry its own target CPA.

## Account structure

A Google Ads connection exposes every customer your credentials can reach. **Manager accounts (MCC) are expanded** — the child customers underneath appear as top-level accounts you can put in scope individually.

Always confirm the currency on the account before quoting a budget back: it is set per customer.

## What Concord can do

* Create and update campaigns, ad groups, and ads
* Set bidding strategy and budget at creation
* Manage keywords and negative keyword lists on ad groups
* Manage ad extensions
* Set campaign-level location, language, ad schedule, device, and negative keyword targeting
* Resolve YouTube channels by name for targeting and exclusions
* Create conversion actions and attach conversion goals to campaigns
* Pull performance reports, including video metrics such as views, view-through rate, and CPV

## Everything is created paused

Every campaign, ad group, and ad Concord creates lands in a paused state. Nothing delivers until you flip the status to enabled — and it has to be flipped on each tier.

## Bidding strategies

Manual CPC (with enhanced CPC), Maximize Clicks, Maximize Conversions, Maximize Conversion Value, Target CPA, Target ROAS, and Target Impression Share.

Maximize Conversions, Maximize Conversion Value, Target CPA, and Target ROAS require conversion tracking on the account.

Portfolio (shared) bidding strategies are not supported.

## Set at creation, not editable afterwards

This is the constraint that catches people out. After a campaign exists you can change:

* name, status, start date, end date
* the linked budget amount
* campaign-level targeting

You cannot change the campaign type, the bidding parameters (target CPA, target ROAS, impression-share settings, enhanced CPC), or the network settings. Changing any of those means creating a new campaign.

## Networks

For Search campaigns, google.com is always on. Search partners can be enabled or disabled at creation. The Display and content network is always off — Concord builds Search-only Search campaigns.

## Audiences

Custom audiences (custom intent, custom segments) can be listed but not created, and applying a custom audience directly as targeting is not wired. Audience targeting goes through user lists.
