# TikTok management

> What Concord can build, change, and optimize on TikTok Ads.

TikTok Ads is generally available. Any workspace can connect TikTok and put advertisers in scope.

## What Concord can do

* Read every entity: advertiser, campaign, ad group, ad
* Create campaigns, ad groups, and ads
* Update any campaign, ad group, or ad field, including pause, resume, and archive
* Upload creatives and swap the video on an existing ad
* Create saved audiences, lookalike audiences, and rule-based custom audiences
* Resolve interest, behaviour, and hashtag targeting by name
* Run performance reports

## Everything is created disabled

Every campaign, ad group, and ad Concord creates lands disabled. Nothing delivers until the status is enabled on each tier.

## Pause, archive, delete — the distinction matters

TikTok has three states and they are not equivalent:

| You want to | Concord uses | Reversible |
| --------------------------------------------- | ------------ | ---------- |
| Pause, stop spending, park for later, archive | Disabled | Yes |
| Remove permanently | Deleted | **No** |

**A delete on TikTok is permanent through the API.** Once deleted, a campaign, ad group, or ad cannot be restored programmatically.

Concord defaults to pausing whenever you say stop, archive, kill, or remove. It will only delete if you ask for a hard delete explicitly, and it confirms first.

## Dark ads by default, Spark on request

Most ads are **dark**: an uploaded or library creative running under your identity. Concord builds those unless you name the exact organic post to boost.

Spark (boosted) ads are opt-in for a reason. A boosted post's region-restricted destination link locks the ad group's geography, and a Spark ad's identity can never be changed afterwards. Concord will not pick a post for you, and an identity alone does not make an ad Spark.

## Creative edits

Ad name, video swap, cover, text, music, and identity can be edited on an existing ad — including Spark ads. When you swap a video, TikTok's suggested frame is used as the cover.

Two things route back to TikTok Ads Manager:

* Editing a field outside that set (call to action, landing page URL) forces a full creative replace, which a Spark ad's identity rules can reject
* Nested targeting on an ad group is not patched — do nested targeting edits in Ads Manager

## Targeting

**Geography** — countries, provinces, cities, districts, and DMAs. In the US the rungs shift by one: what TikTok calls a city is a county, and what it calls a district is a city. Counties and DMAs are both targetable and are different entities.

**Postal codes** — supported for the US and Canada (Canada targets the first three characters of the postal code). Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam are allowlist-only through your TikTok representative. No other country has a postal level.

**Interests, behaviours, and hashtags** — resolved by name in one lookup, scoped to the advertiser. Targetable values differ per advertiser, so a value another account can use may legitimately come back unavailable for yours.

Concord echoes resolved location names back before submission. Read them — it is the cheapest way to catch wrong-country targeting.

## Audiences

**Saved audiences** — listable and creatable. TikTok does not allow editing a saved audience: to change one, create a new one and delete the old one in Ads Manager.

**Custom and lookalike audiences** — Concord creates lookalikes and rule-based audiences, renames them, and refreshes lookalikes. A freshly created audience needs up to 48 hours to process before it can be targeted.

Customer-file and hashed-PII audiences have to be built in TikTok Audience Manager.

## Smart+

Create, update, pause, and duplicate all work through the normal flow. TikTok cannot convert a campaign between manual and Smart+, so a Smart+ campaign has to be created as one. Smart+ campaigns use a total campaign budget and are always campaign-budget-optimized.

Smart+ **ads** are readable but have not been successfully created through the API — build those in TikTok Ads Manager.

## Dayparting optimizer

Concord can analyze an ad group hour by hour and flag the hours or days delivering below that ad group's own weighted average, then propose a dayparting schedule as a [platform action](/features/platform-actions/platform-actions-overview) for you to review. Nothing is applied without your approval.

It covers ad groups on a **daily budget**. Smart+ and Reach & Frequency ad groups are out of scope, and an ad group whose existing schedule cannot be read is reported as such rather than treated as running around the clock, which would reopen hours you had closed.

## Reporting

Breakdowns by date, hour, campaign, ad group, and ad, plus age and gender, country, device OS, and placement. Auction campaigns only.

Available on TikTok but not yet wired into Concord: device brand, province, connection type, language, and interest category breakdowns; view-through conversions, billed cost, cash and voucher spend, and gross impressions.

Not available at all: device model breakdown, reservation and Reach & Frequency delivery, MRC viewable impressions, billed revenue.

## Not supported

* TikTok Shop catalogs and catalog-based formats
* Creating pixels or web events — build them in TikTok Events Manager, Concord discovers and applies them
* Creating instant pages or lead forms — build them in TikTok's editor, Concord references them
* Creating or editing app events
